1. Overview
Stamport helps you discover real-world events, explore an interactive map, and collect digital stamps inside a personal passport. This Privacy Policy explains how the iOS and Android apps and related services handle your information whenever you browse the map, scan QR codes, personalize your passport, or contact support.
By using Stamport you agree that we may process information as described below. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the app and contact us so we can help you delete your account.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect information that is necessary to operate Stamport. Depending on how you use the app, we may process:
- Account details such as your email address, Firebase user ID, authentication provider metadata (for example Google Sign-In), chosen username, display name, and timestamps so we can authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- Profile and passport content including the stamps you collect, the collections or covers you unlock, background images you set, progress counters, and any optional profile photo you upload. These items are stored in Google Cloud Firestore and Firebase Storage so they stay in sync across devices.
- Location information derived from your device (GPS, Wi-Fi, or network signals) when you grant permission. We use it to center the map, show nearby locations, and trigger proximity notifications. Stamport does not maintain a continuous GPS history on its servers.
- Camera and photo library access so you can scan Stamport QR codes or add a profile picture. QR decoding happens entirely on your device and only the resulting stamp identifier is sent to Stamport. Uploaded photos are stored until you delete or replace them.
- Usage and diagnostic data such as crash reports, device type, operating system version, and IP address that are automatically logged by Google Firebase services and by MapTiler when map tiles load. We rely on these logs to troubleshoot and prevent abuse.
- Support communications and voluntary feedback that you send to info@stamport.com or through in-app contact options.
- Username safety checks, where we compare the name you choose against an automated profanity and reserved-word list to protect the community.
3. How We Use Information
The information above allows us to:
- Create and maintain your account via Firebase Authentication, sync your passport progress through Cloud Firestore, and store optional images in Firebase Storage.
- Provide the core Stamport experience, including displaying map tiles, suggesting nearby stamps, validating QR codes, unlocking covers, and showing your passport across devices.
- Send transactional communications such as sign-in confirmations, service updates, and responses to support requests. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.
- Monitor, secure, and troubleshoot the platform, enforce our username guidelines, and detect fraudulent stamp activity or unauthorized access.
- Improve Stamport by analyzing aggregated usage trends, testing new features, and understanding where the app needs refinement.
4. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We only share it in the situations below:
- Service providers: Stamport relies on Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage) to host accounts and images, Google Sign-In for social login, MapTiler for map tiles, and Apple/Google app stores to distribute the app. These providers may process device identifiers and IP addresses subject to their own privacy terms.
- Other users: When you interact with shared experiences (for example collaborative passports or featured events), other signed-in users may see the username, avatar, or stamp art that you choose to display. You can edit or remove this information at any time.
- Legal and safety disclosures: We may share information if required by law, court order, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Stamport, our community, or others.
- Business transfers: If Stamport is involved in a reorganization, merger, or sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
5. Device Permissions & Controls
You can manage permissions in your device settings. Some features may not work when a permission is disabled:
- Location: Needed to center the map and trigger proximity prompts. You can revoke it, but nearby stamp suggestions may be limited.
- Camera: Required to scan Stamport QR codes. Without it, you cannot collect new stamps via scanning.
- Photos/Media: Used only when you choose an image for your profile. You can remove the photo at any time from the Edit Profile screen.
- Notifications: If you enable notifications in Settings, we may send alerts about new stamps or events. You can opt out through the in-app toggle or your OS settings.
6. Data Retention
We keep your account data, passport progress, and uploaded media for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account from Settings or by contacting us, we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain information to comply with the law or resolve disputes. Support emails and aggregated analytics may be stored longer as needed.
7. Your Choices & Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. You can:
- Update your username, profile photo, and other details inside Settings, or change your email by following the prompts.
- Delete your account via Settings → Delete Account or by emailing info@stamport.com from the address linked to your profile. We may ask for verification before completing the request.
- Control permissions (location, camera, notifications) in your device settings and disable proximity alerts or notifications within the app.
- Request a copy of your data or raise concerns by emailing info@stamport.com. We will respond consistent with applicable privacy regulations such as the GDPR or CPRA.
8. Security
We protect Stamport with Firebase Security Rules, role-based access, encryption in transit, and regular monitoring. No system is completely secure, so we also encourage you to use a strong password, keep your device updated, and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized activity.
9. Children's Privacy
Stamport is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us so we can delete the information.
10. International Data Transfers
Stamport is hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure, which may process and store data on servers located in the United States and other countries. By using the app, you consent to this international transfer. When required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or similar safeguards.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Stamport evolves. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above and, when appropriate, notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of Stamport after a change means you accept the updated policy.
